LIFTBRIDGEThe short version
Couch Remote collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking, and it sends nothing to Liftbridge Labs. The app talks only to the TVs on your own home network.
What the app talks to
To find your TVs, Couch Remote sends standard discovery messages (SSDP and mDNS) on your local network. To control a TV, it connects straight to that TV over your network and sends it the buttons you press. None of this leaves your home network or passes through any server of ours.
Some TVs ask you to approve the app the first time, with a PIN or an Allow prompt on screen. The TV may then list “Couch Remote” among its connected devices. What a TV does with that is covered by its maker’s privacy policy.
What stays on your phone
The app keeps, on your device only:
- the TVs you have connected to: their names, any names you give them, and their network addresses;
- the pairing keys those TVs issue so you don’t have to approve the app every time, and, for Google TV and Android TV, a key the app generates in your phone’s secure keystore;
- your settings, such as the theme and which TV to open to.
This is not included in cloud backups, and it is removed when you uninstall the app.
Google Play
If you install Couch Remote from Google Play, Google handles the download and any crash reports you choose to share with developers under its own privacy policy. We do not add any other data collection.
Support
If you email support@liftbridgelabs.app, we see what you send us — your address and the contents of your message — and use it only to answer you.
Children
Couch Remote is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing from anyone.
Not affiliated
Couch Remote is not affiliated with or endorsed by any TV maker. Brand names belong to their owners and are used only to say which TVs the app works with.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
